Stony Brook Financial Aid

Hi,

So I applied RD to Stony Brook University for Biomedical Engineering but I got accepted for AOI in PreBiomedical Engineering. What is this? Also, is this considered as an undeclared major? Will I still receive financial aid? Sorry, I was a bit confused. Thanks.

I don’t see why that would disqualify you for financial aid. I’m guessing they put you into AOI because you didn’t meet the requirements for direct admission into the major. I think you just have to complete the requirements and then you will be admitted into the major.

Ok thanks so much

I also have been accepted to Stony Brook in an AOI program. Thanks for posting the information on the NYS TAP aid. However, I am more concerned about federal aid. Are students in AOI programs eligible for federal grants and loans? Thanks!

As long as you are a matriculated degree seeking student, you should be eligible for federal aid.

Ah thanks. I suppose that gets to the root of my question then, whether or not the AOI program constitutes matriculation etc… I suppose I’ll have to call the financial aid office on Monday to be sure.

Actually, mystery solved. I just received my acceptance letter and it says I was admitted as a matriculated undergraduate in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences with an area of interest in computer science. Thanks for the help!
