I’m having an extremely difficult time deciding between Stony Brook Honors College and Macaulay Honor CCNY. Both are honors programs that have benefits to them. I like the fact that Stony Brook has a nice campus and there are a lot of research opportunities. Also, it has basically every major which is good since I am undecided. The honors college is prestigious and provides opportunities. At the same time, Macaulay has similar opportunities, and I would be giving up the network of NYC and 7500 opportunities fund. Both end up costing around the same amount with dorming, so that is not the issue. I really cannot choose and the deadline is May 1st!! Please help.

What is your proposed major? Stony Brook’s academics, especially for anything related to natural sciences, are stronger. That is what you should focus on. CCNY is in a process of re-building their reputation from its peak in the 60’s. It may be a good deal for some majors now, but I would probably choose Stony Brook, unless there is a specific program at CCNY which you feel is quite strong for you.
I’d choose Stony Brook too. You only have 4 years to experience college life, and your entire life to experience NYC. In addition, SB is indeed (cf.^) stronger in the sciences and would have a stronger student body overall.

Macaulay Honors CCNY Average SAT is around 1400 SAT. If you want business, go to CCNY. If you want sciences, go to Stony Brook.
Macaulay overall is 1400 indeed, but not just at CCNY; remember that 4 out of 5 classes will be CCNY classes.
