Stony Brook or Farmingdale for Business? (Transfer)

I'm turning 24 this summer, and I still don't have my Bachelor's...I've taken several semesters off after attending LIU Post & Touro College for pre-pharmacy and it didn't work out. I decided I want to pursue Business Administration/Management, preferably with an Accounting track so that I can get a mid-level accounting job if my current position doesn't end up working out (I'm currently in sales at a small business).

I already have $40-50K in student loan debt, but I know that Stony Brook is more reputable (supposedly) and specifically offers an accounting specialization for business majors. Is this a better option for me rather than Farmingdale? I do have business credits from business courses I took in high school through Farmingdale as well as a few I took a Suffolk Community College.

Trying to decide if it's worth the extra money to go to Stony Brook in my situation or not...

How much more expensive is SB? I do think it has a much better reputation than Farmingdale; probably in the top three SUNYs whereas Farmingdale wouldn’t really be close. But I’m also looking at it from the perspective of a “traditional” student who would want the whole real dorm/campus experience while you probably don’t care so much about that.

Yeah, Stony Brook is probably about $10,000 more a year. As far as the dorming/campus experience goes, I don’t really care about that since I will be commuting to whichever one I go to. I live closer to Farmingdale, but I’m only about 25 minutes from Stony Brook as well.

Hm. $10k is a significant amount of money. I wish I had better advice- is it possible to look at job placement / career services for both schools? Since both schools are so close to each other geographically, I can’t imagine there are sooo many more different, better opportunities at Stony Brook even if it has a better reputation in general.
