Stony Brook Transfer Questions

Hello! Stony Brook University has always been my top college and recently, after applying for the fall 2011 semester, I was wait-listed and then rejected. Now I plan on transferring ASAP from CUNY Lehman...
What are my chances of transferring after one semester?

Do I NEED 24 college credits in order to transfer? I've been told that you need to have 24 credits to transfer but my friend told me that you should have these credits only if you do not want them to see your high-school work (because that is what they will look at if you DON'T have 24 credits). On Stony Brook's wait-list blog, they describe being wait-listed as "we think you're qualified for admission, but unfortunately, we do not have enough space in our freshman class" As I mentioned before, I WAS wait-listed, and that means I was accepted based off of my high school work... So would it be a good thing to NOT receive 24 credits and let them see my high school work?
How do IB credits work in all of this?

Also, if I did get accepted after the first semester, would there be housing available?

I would greatly appreciate it if a SB representative answered. Thanks for reading!
