Why do you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My sat score was way above average at 2200 and I had a really good upward GPA trend. My school is tough as the average sat score is 1990 in my high school.
General Comments: Happy to get accepted!
Will you attend: Maybe
My daughter accepted on the same major as you are. Heard that it s a good department - applied math and statistics, right? But our decision will depend on how much scholarships she will get as we out of state and low income family.
Yes! My dad majored in applied math and got his degree at uw seattle. He said stony brooks applied math reputation is solid.
thanks. then for her all will depends on fellowship. she also got rutgers and montclair - our home states/safe. was for you stony brook safe or reach?
Stony brook was probably a low match as I also got purdue, uc riverside, and ohio state. I would heavily consider Rutgers as it is in state and should be cheaper.
The problem with Rutgers is that there are no applied math program only math as education…but as to cheaper Rutgers is not cheap anymore☺
I would definitely go to stony brook if they can get the price close to Rutgers’s price or cheaper in that case.

Reflection
Strengths- Essay, GPA, letter of recommendations, commitment for community service. My SAT scores, while they fall on the average, when compared to rest of my high school, they are really high, since average is around 1200.
Weaknesses: Essay lol My essay was very risky, could have either helped me or killed me, depending on the person who read it. Not many AP’s offered at school, my school is known to be really bad high school
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essay.
General Comments on decision: Hmm, it came as a surprise, I thought decision would come out later. I was checking my SOLAR account to verify something, and then I checked application status, and saw I was accepted!!!
Will you attend(yes, maybe, no)?: Depends, if I receive enough merit scholarships and outside scholarships to cover the cost YES, but I will go to the school that offers me the best scholarships/ institutional aid because family can’t afford a cent.
Congrats! I’m sure you will get a lot of aid with the leadership and high GPA!
Does anyone know when the next batch of decisions will be released? @metalmonk28 @anita96 @poetry29

Don’t feel like filling out the rest lolz but I’m a white female from NY. Didn’t really have any weakness in applying to stony brook, it’s one of my safeties. That being said, I hope ppl worried about getting in don’t look at this thread, I think some people are just trying to brag on this site. You can get in with decent but not spectacular grades (like 90ish average 27 on act for example), lots of my friends did.
Can anyone who was accepted tell me when they applied? I’m still waiting for my decision thanks.
