Stony Brook University Class of 2019

They will email you to tell you that a decision has come out. You then log into the SOLAR system(I believe that’s what it’s called can’t remember completely) and it will show your decision.

@metalmonk28 thank you!

I applied on January 15, 2015 (Deadline Day) and got accepted on February 11, 2015. :slight_smile:

@metalmonk28, im curious, when you say that the applied math/stat department is reputable, what is that in context of, exactly? Like where would SBU be relative to say… Fordham’s AM/Stat dpeartment, or Cornell’s or Bing’s?

Also, do you know anything about other math related fields-- such as Econ perhaps? I put down CS, but now Im really kind of leaning towards a quantitative Economics, if that is being offered, or something similar, perhaps Poli Scie.

Thanks.

Also, did you guys actually send in your SAT 2 scoers? I attended an open house of sorts, and the lady literally said they dont even look at them

Stony Brook’s applied math dept. should be pretty comparable to Purdue or University of Washington.

I did not send in any sat 2 scores.

I am not familiar with the overall prestige for Economics.

Ok, thanks for the info!

Does any one else know about the Econ dept at Stony? I dont care about “prestige”, but Ive heard anecdotes of Econ course being taught by “weird” professors. I love everythign about Sbu, its just this one thing thats kind of holding me back

@ggwpafk823 do you know how that works? I’m not sure if im qualified enough to do that

I actually dont know, ive heard of it in an anecdote. If I were in your position, and SBU was my absolutely my 2nd choice (as well as being a financially feasible option), I would contact the admissions office. Simple as that. Convey your commitment, dedication and zeal to excel at Stony. It cant hurt to try. YOu can even offer to retake the SATs or Act and see how they react to that.

@Herculeum which program did you apply to?

@Herculeum‌ , I’m just curious. Do you have a Campus Financial Services tab on your solar?
