Thanks so much for explaining. I’m thinking that haven’t reviewed it yet! My son sent an extra essay in November explaining why it was his first choice and he received a response from an admission staffer saying it was added to his app and that it was complete. Otherwise, the only emails we get are marketing ones telling us to apply. Argh!
check to see if your portal says the app is under review. also i would wait till feb. 1st because apparently sbu is sending out a lot of decisions that date. if you are still worried you can reach out to the admissions office and talk to Judith (name and number is on the portal). hope this helps and don’t worry so much because sbu is known for being slow with releasing decisions!!
Does not say under review. Still says Let’s Get Started and then has checklists. Thanks so much for the tip and advice. Will just have to wait it out.
yeah mine says that too! but in between that it says that it’s under review. i wish i can post a pic on here to show u what I mean.
Just use this and share the link.
ah ok thanks!
it should say this after the let’s get started paragraph and before the first checklist
Same. I applied in October and I’m yet to hear back. So frusturating
where does it say that? Cause it’s feb1 today lol
do you mind if i ask what the efc was? I’m trying to calculate what my package would look like with efc of 0
Thanks!
anyone else waiting bc they heard stony brook is sending out a lot of decisions today…
I honestly don’t remember but it was high. The calculator led us to believe he would only receive $8500 for merit. We don’t qualify for need based aid. Hope that helps.
I am also still waiting too, I was hoping I would get something by now, but again I remembered that I submitted my application mid-December so I should be a bit more patient lol.
I actually inquired today about the status and they replied with this explanation for why it’s taking longer… “You are applying for one of the most competitive and restricted majors in the University and it is common for Applied Mathematics and Statistics applicants to be delayed in receiving their decision. This is done to ensure all applicants have been reviewed carefully before decisions are made for this selective program.” (Big gulp!)
yikes! I am sure they meant it in a nice way but the way they worded it sounds a bit harsh. Also this is random but do you know the word limit for the honors college supplement? One source tells me 250 words while another tells me up to 650 words!? It is unclear what the word count is and I am freaking out because I submitted mine with 594 words.
They recently updated website main page that honors essay is around 250 words.
Hi! Yes, I see that now. I misunderstood it when I submitted my copy with 594 words. I know the deadline is today, so should I submit my new copy with 244 words and ask admissions to remove my old one from my portal? Or is it to late to make the change
haha yeah I didn’t see any changes yet so for now i guess we will patiently wait
