This was kind of messed up so not sure Lot of people uploaded 500-600 words essays too earlier. I don’t know how they compare.

I agree!! I swore I saw somewhere that the word count in 600 ish words. I will just submit my new one and see if they can take out the old one from my portal. Thanks for the help!!!

I saw conflicting info wherever I looked on website so I emailed an admission counselor and this was the answer:
Applicants to the Honors College, University Scholars, and or WISE: Upload a brief statement in your admissions portal on why you believe you will be a good fit for your preferred honors program.
There are no set guidelines on format or length. Therefore, please use your best judgment with this. This must be uploaded onto your applicant portal by the priority deadline of February 1st, 2021.

Yeah there was conflicting info on the website, glad it was not only me that saw that! I just emailed the admissions committee yesterday and they replied with this: “Please note, there is no strict cutoff for honors statements between 250 - 500 words is the general recommendation.“ The main page says 250 words though, so I left it at 244. I wish they were more clear about it!!
Still waiting also. In-state, applied mid November. Called today again, they said it takes longer for Comp Sci majors to hear back. Urgh

yup i am pretty sure comp sci will take the longest bc it is so popular at sbu. I am also waiting but for health sci
I applied for CS too. I submitted my application on November 11th but my application checklist was completed on 5th January (because of some confusion). I got an email on January 13th notifying me that there’s an update posted on my portal and in essence, it only took them a week to get back to me with my decision. I also received another email on 22nd Jan and that contained a PDF of my merit scholarship.
I don’t know why they’re taking so long to release decisions for other students!

I haven’t heard back from them and it has been two days. Maybe we are going to have to wait a bit longer. But this waiting game is really stressing me out since this is my number 1 school.

idk much about how to use this lol… so I applied to SBU on 12/08/2020 for Bio and applied to their scholars and honors program. I have pretty good stats compared to their average admitted scores. anyone have an estimate on when ill get a response???
oh i forgot…my portal started saying under review on 12/18 idk if that changes anything.
I got a email a week ago saying my app was completed and under review. I just decided to log in and see if any change came and it looks like my application status portion has completely disappeared from my portal? Does anyone know why?
That happens when the decision about to come out. I remember when my screen went blank and it showed acceptance couple of days later.
Applied Nov-23 accepted Dec-4th into CS

has anyone been accepted undecided major in state? i applied end of oct from nyc and haven’t even received the email that my application is under review.

i didnt get a decision yet but i think once they know they are rejecting u they will lyk. there is no reason to wait and there is no set decision date
