Stony Brook University Class of 2025 Discussion Thread

aw congrats!!

I also applied for the College of Arts and Science. I hope to hear from them soon. Congrats!!

No scores. Wonder if they’re holding on those decisions…

My daughter got acceptances from Stony Brook today . Applied 11/22 in state

Haven’t gotten anything on Financial Aid yet. Accepted 11/30 and still waiting.

You got direct CS or AOI CS admission ?

@2021twinboys

We are OOS. GPA: 4.0(uw)/4.79(w); ACT:36. Applied on 11/15 and accepted on 11/25. Received merit letter in the portal on 12/23 for Presidential scholarship: $16K/yr.

With this scholarship, the COA will be a little more than UMD in-state cost. Daughter is still waiting for WISE and BS/MD decision. Daughter likes the school but we are still waiting for a few more schools including UMD, before making decision.

Advice? SBU has not finished sending merit or FA out yet so don’t lose hope. Also, your S still have in-state school in affordable is priority. We are happy to send our D to UMD but want give her an option if it’s affordable.

Good luck !!!

they gotta hurry up lol

They have direct PA program?

Do you guys think it’s ok for me to email my counselor and ask for an update?

How does SOLAR portal look when acceptance is in? Son applied 11/20, still no decision, but there was admission section on SOLAR before and now it is not there lol

ikr

personally, my counselor does not know much about where a college is at in reviewing a specific student’s application. Usually colleges don’t update the counselor or you on where they are at with you app bc they have many to look at. The closest indicator to see where ur app is at is to make sure you got the email saying they received it and check common app to see if stony downloaded your info. If I were you I would make sure you submitted everything and just wait it out. -hope this helps!

I’m a little confused. My son (applied late October, hasn’t heard decision yet) can sign into an application status portal, but I don’t think this is SOLAR. It has “Let’s Get Started” on the top and shows the application checklist with all the documents that have been submitted. Thanks for letting me know if there’s another site we should be checking!

yep i have that too. the application portal is different than solar. once you get accepted im pretty sure you get the login for solar. not sure what order the applications are being review by, but be hopeful! everything’s ok on your end :+1:

If it helps someone posted awhile ago what the default pw was for solar. I think its your birthday day. I think 6 or eight digits long. My daughter hasn’t gotten a decision but I tried a few weeks ago & I was able to get in. There wasn’t any information but I was able to log in. Not sure if this helps, just thought I’d share.

We’re among those waiting more than 2 months already for a decision. FYI for others waiting - looking at last year’s thread and it doesn’t seem unusual to receive admission in later Jan - March, even for those who applied in fall. Doesn’t address why some hear quickly and others don’t, but still heartening.

omg that makes me feel so much better, thank you! also I got an email saying they received my academic documentation which is different than the “we received your app” so I assume my decision is on the way

Does anyone know if they do decisions on the weekends? Also, has anyone undecided been accepted yet?
