People keep talking about their SOLAR account - if not yet accepted, is there any other site besides the Application Status Portal that we should be checking? It doesn’t actually offer any info about the app status - just a checklist of what’s been submitted (since October!). Thanks for the info!

After being accepted into stony brook they will give you the login to SOLAR. The portal is used as a checklist and for application status. When they have come to a decision they will notify you via email and portal

Yes the application portal will update when you get accepted. It will say something like Congratulations you are accepted and click here to see your acceptance letter. If you keep scrolling you will see your student ID and explain how to set up solar (student ID and birthdate) and some other information about deposit etc.

We are from California and my daughter has been accepted into the Pre-Nursing program. Being a state school, does anyone know if this is a commuter campus. My biggest concern would be that she would move across the country to have a campus that was empty at night and on the weekends. Being in a suburb, I’m concerned that it could be lonely.

Sorry to say SB is a commuter school. My daughter loved it but is thats 1 of the things she’s apprehensive about.

I got accept few days ago, and current waiting for the scholar for medicine, god help me.

Thanks for your reply. We have not visited. She got into Fordham and St. John’s so far in NYC, and has yet to hear from Syracuse. I know that the state schools are a more affordable option, but think that Syracuse would be more of a college experience if she gets in.

when did u apply?

I apply by the dec 30th, and receive the email of acceptance on the jan 12th

oh wow that’s so early. i applied in November and still haven’t heard back yet. what’s your major?

I apply for biochem and now waiting for honor/medicine

Daughter applied in Oct/Nov & still waiting to hear. So frustrating, SB was one of her top although I had reservations because of the # of commuters & how dead the school can be on weekends.

Same here! Still waiting. So strange how some hear so quickly and others are held. Perhaps it’s partly to do with the school / major? Son applied for applied math / stats and haven’t noticed anyone posting here about acceptance into that major as yet.

Daughter applied biochemistry. 93 avg, good ECs, ems/emt…did not provide sats.

Any idea When we hear back about the honors college admission?

I didn’t get anything yet either and my stats are pretty similar to you (ramen something something) But it says they release some the rest of the sessions on Feb. 1 and it’s rolling admissions thereafter.
