I am a high school junior at a very comptetitive school where the classes are challenging. Lately, I have been under circumstances with my family that have caused my grades to drop. I still care very much about a higher education and would like to go to Stony Brook or NYU.
I am unsure what my GPA is on the 4.0 scale since we do it out of a hundred. Up until junior year, I've maintained a 90 average. But thus year, ny grades have dropped due to my family situation. I now have an 85 average. The bad part to this is, I failed my precalculus class with a 60. And that will be on my transcript sadly. I haven't been in any honors classes here since the workload of regular classes is already so difficult. So here goes nothing.
GPA: 85 that's like a 3.0 I believe
SAT: Taken twice. First 2080, second 2100, superscore of 2130
SATII: Did not take any
APs: none
Extra curriculars: managed a bunch of teams, was in a bunch of clubs
I'm a really good student but everything that happened this year has taken a toll on my grades. I really hope to go to one of these schools.
Please tell me my chances and maybe what I can do to raise them. Please keep in mind that, junior year is basically over.

NYU: Reach
Stony Brook: Match (Stony Brook looks splitter-friendly)

both are matches

Stony is more of a safety and NYU will be a a somewhere a high match to a high reach depending which school you apply to.
