Hello, I am currently a freshman at CUNY Bernard Baruch College as a finance major and I don’t like it at all. It is my first semester and I am taking 16 credits so I know I will have to apply with my High School Transcript and SAT s
I had a 94 unweighted GPA and a 1700 on the SAT but a 1210 split with critical reading and math
The AP’s I took in high school are
AP MIcro 4
AP Macro 4
AP Physics B 3
AP World 5
AP US History 4
I also completed an internship over the summer at an ATM repair company and have a pretty decent resume. Would that help at all?
I also wanted to transfer into Computer Engineering one of their more competitive majors but I could always apply undecided then apply for my major
Housing isn’t a problem as I live in Suffolk County
I also do have some credit I received in high school through Farmingdale College its about 12 credits and with AP’s id be at about 27 Credits even before Baruch Transfers would I still need my High School Transcript and SAT scores?
Check SB’s website for transfer admission details. Some majors are quite competitive. I don’t believe it’s a good idea to try to slide into competitive majors after admission because if you can’t get in, you have to transfer again.
Apart from the long commute from Suffolk County to Manhattan, what do you dislike about Baruch? Do you think you will be able to handle Math series (Calculus I & II, Differential Equations, Linear Algrebra) and Physics classes (Classical Physics I, II and laboratories) if you switch to Computer Engineering? Your lowest AP score was in Physics and it doesn’t appear you did any AP Calculus courses in high school (or did you?) What was your SAT math score?. Have you looked at the possibility of doing Calculus I and Physics I/Lab at Baruch and completing your freshman year at Baruch and then transfer to SB?
I personally just don’t like the school. It’s a long commute about 3.5 hours a day. My current major is finance and I realized I don’t even like it. I think I really looked at the ending Salary and not if the major would lead to a job that would make me happy. I want to do something more focused on computers it doesn’t necessarily have to be computer engineering. I didn’t take AP Calc although I took AP statistics and was doing pretty bad so I didn’t event take the AP
Do you think I have a bad chance of being accepted?
