Stony Brook Vs. Binghamton

I was recently accepted to Stony Brook :D and i also applied to SUNY Binghamton, i was wondering which college would be a better choice, like which college has more internship opportunities, which college would help me get a job quicker, campus life, dorms, etc. I am going as a Psychology major. Any opinions are very valuable to me, thank you

Well, one’s in Stony Brook, one’s in Binghamton.

On a more serious note, I don’t know much about Binghamton or psychology, but Stony Brook’s apparently got a great psychology department. It’s also awesome for science and engineering.

Stony Brook’s psychology program is top notch. I would strongly consider it.

We have TWO psych buildings!

You can never have too many Psych buildings, I always say.

Stony brook- Greener atmosphere. However, on weekends, most students return back home. Campus is pretty vacant & inactive.

Binghamton- Cold environment. A lot of events and activities to do. People drink to have a good time.

stony known for science/mathematics
binghamton known for business

I live right around stony brook and i have visited binghamp many times…i mean it when i say that stony brook sucks… Binghampton has better programs overall if u want a good college experience… Sb is dead on the weekends and its pretty much in a boring location … Its not near nyc if u want to go to the city u have to pay 40 or so dollars to get a train which is a waste of money… Dnt go to sb go to bing u wont regret it… And bing is also considered a public ivy

@gsundar2383 thanks for your opinion, i LOVE binghamton and i have yet to visit stony brook, a lot of people have told me that stony brook is dead on the weekend and i want to go to a college that doesnt go dead during the weekend, i think my #1 choice is binghamton right now

gsundar2383, where do you pay $40 for train tickets? I only pay $23 for roundtrip LIRR penn station tickets.

Also, the weekends is what you make out of it. There are a lot of parties, you will need to make friends in order to find out where the parties are at.

I also heard that at Binghamton, RA won’t allow you to throw suite parties but here at SBU they pretty much don’t care unless you making a lot of noise.
