I am pursuing pre-med

I have two options:

Stony Brook University

University Scholars Program

Tuition is basically nothing, can afford dorms

Has every major I want

Known for being good at sciences, especially pre-med

Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College

Macaulay has free tuition, $7500 opportunities fund, and a free MacBook Pro

Has every major I want

I know a lot more about Stony Brook. I know that it's good. I do want to see if anyone that has attended or knows anything about CUNY Brooklyn if it's good and if the Macaulay program is good.

Macaulay is excellent and very prestigious (more so than University Scholars) - the Macaulay students are the elite of the CUNY system and everyone who’s in contact with the system knows it. You’ll get A LOT of attention, resources, and opportunities other students don’t have. Plus, free trips and free tickets to NY shows/places… And for med school, Macaulay will help finding research positions, internships… and the opportunities fund can be used if you get a great opportunity that’s unpaid. Or to help support projects, or study abroad (many Europeans have undergrad med school… how cool would it be to have one semester in a French, Norwegian, German, Welsh… med school, with real medical classes?)

Agree, Stony Brook’s location seems rather isolated in comparison.

Stony Brook has a far stronger program when it comes to the sciences and engineering. Especially because their is a hospital and medical school on campus, medical related research is very strong and volunteer opportunities are abundant.

Yes, Macaulay Honors is a nice program and the students in the program are smart. But when it comes to the sciences and medicine, Stony Brook provides better education and experiences.

Stony Brook has a good program
