Stony Brook?

I've been wanting to attend Stony Brook for a while now, but I've been reading some responses made by alumni, and they're extremely negative.

Now I'm unsure on whether I should attend there, or go somewhere else.

What are the pros and cons of Stony Brook?

I plan on majoring in Chemistry, and at the same time, fulfill the requirements for pre-med.
*I've been told Stony Brook is a great school when it comes to sciences; is this true? Or is Binghamton better?

Tons of SB students have posted negative reviews, but I noticed some are from 2008 and 2009, so I'm hoping they've improved?

Stony Brook is supposed to be a "commuter school". This doesn't really bother me; so you can leave that out of the cons list....

Also, to those who have attended Stony Brook; are the professors good? I read that most don't care about their students. How true is that?

Thanks

No advice anyone? =/

Visit and tour the school for yourself. Sit in on a couple of the intro Science classes.
Plan an overnight visit on campus during the weekend (see if the admission’s office can help to arrange for you to stay with a current student).
