So my parents are pretty much set on me going to Stony. However, I’m not too fond of the school. Theres no fun on campus. I like their research programs, but the school just seems boring. Bing, on the other hand, is known as a great business school. This is a plus since I want to major in Management Information Systems. But, the school has no football team (not a deal breaker, but I would like to go to those games), and it’s practically in the middle of nowhere, so it’d be hard to get back to the city.
So based on what I’ve said, and your opinions on both schools, which do you think would be a better fit? It’d be preferred if students from both schools could answer, but I’ll listen to everyone.
It’s really hard to compete with 24k a year but it would not be a bad idea to run the tuition calculators at private schools. For high stat students at selective schools, the numbers could get close.
Something to consider.
I would think that Binghamton would have a vastly better social life than Stony Brook given the high level of commuters.
Are you test scores high enough for the big merit deals down South?
tbh I really don’t want to go to a school too far. I plan on leaving home, but I don’t want to go to school that I will have to take a long road trip or a flight to go back home
I think Binghamton would give you a better social life (since Stony Brook has so many commuters) and it would probably be better for your major. It doesn’t have a football team, but it has other sports. There are buses you could take back to the city that run multiple times a day.
I don’t go to Binghamton but three of my best friends do and I’ve visited many times. They love it.
I would go with Binghamton. It is overall stronger academically (although SB is good as well) and it has more of a residential campus. SB has a reputation as a bit of a suitcase school where a portion of the students commute or go home for weekends.
