Stop Asking About Your Chances At Harvard!!

Does anyone agree with me that it's getting a little redundant. I mean, there's no such thing as your chance at harvard anymore. They pick who they wanna pick. No legacy, perfect SAT/ACT, or interview is going to help. So stop asking about how to get into HYPPS sure shot! there are no sure shots! Anyone agree?

i mean there are plenty of colleges out there that u can be equally successful. and save s**tloads of money.

PPL u should read this. maybe there should be a forum strictly for "My chances into HARVARD!" this is getting really obnoxious.(and i dont care if i just spelled that word wrong..lol)

laughs I think most of us just want to validate that we are not like on the WRONG end of the spectrum...

Now, I know it does get annoying, but many people do want to go to harvard and of course, you want to know whether it's a decent chance?

If you're annoyed at it, why are you reading those posts??? Just ignore them...

lol. ino..i just think maybe there should be a forum dedicated to those who want to go to harvard or other top schools. it just seems to be a REALLY hot topic on CC.

i think harvard adcoms should come here and chance them!

lol.........

i agree (10)

that would be funny. they should hire some harvard reps to join CC and spy on those infamous question askers.

laughs That would be VERY funny!!!! ;) I'm sure some reps probably spy here occasionally and laugh!

they must..this s**t is hilarious.

Actually, early this year, right before acceptances went out for NYU, a whole bunch of people who had applied there got really nervous.

A student who was at the school told the people on this site that there was a certain way to "game the system" and login to a particular spot on NYU and check out if they had or had not gotten in.

After about 80 people on CC tried doing this, there was a post put on the thread (the one that discussed how to do all this) from someone entitled "NYUADMISSIONS" who stated they were the one of the adcoms at NYU, they wanted people to stop trying to "game" the system, they questioned whether or not they would take action against those who were doing so--including possibly revoking admissions granted if this continued" and reading out to them their legal rights to do so based upon the contract you agreed to in the admissions application.

Wow--you should have seen the string of apologies from the people on the site--I think something like 15 pages of--"gee I'm sorry, I really didn't know" etc.--when of course they all should have known it was illegal to do--and never should have attempted it.

Anyway--my point is--occasionally adcoms do come to this website and monitor traffic--and the Harvard adcoms may be reading this site right now.

P.S. If you want to read that thread, it should still be over there under the NYU section. The NYUADMISSIONS post on the thread was posted around March 25th or so.

This sh** is helarious.

It's better to ask what your chances are to your complete list of schools, since fortunately there are a number of people on this site with the knowledge and patience to analyze chances to each school. The op is right that just asking what one's chance is to Harvard is relatively pointless. However, I don't have a problem with people doing so.

I think it's different when...you're trying to get around a system and when you want an opinion on your chances! ;)

wow...^that's interesting. well, im just sayin that there are too many DIFFERENT posts about it, clogging up the "What Are My Chances" forum. maybe there should be a section dedicated in the Harvard/any other ivy or competitive schools to "what are my chances"

that would make it easier than responding to several different posts.

One "What Are My Chances" forum is quite enough. Many people list all the colleges they're applying to/considering, and hopefully most people aren't silly enough to apply only to top schools. If you don't like people asking for their chances, don't go to the forum. It's pretty simple.

^You all are missing something. This person isn't saying "I hate reading these!", this person is saying "I hate them!" The statement 'If you don't like them, don't read them' has no bearing, for the simple reason that the poster is merely expressing hatred for them period--something the poster is entitled to doing. As far as we know, the OP could have stopped reading these eons ago, and is just expressing hatred.

And on that note, I kind of hate those too, but I tolerate them.

thanks. exactly my post. i don't even read them. i kinda just notic them on the forum and go "Oh my God!". lol.
