Stop!! You're killing our website!!

Thousands of people are trying to get to our website right now to read our announcement about when we will be announcing our decision. It's actually crashing our server right now (I'm on the phone with our hosting company at the moment).

So please - lay off the servers for a bit so we can resuscitate it. I promise we'll let you know as soon as it we decide to announce when we will announce our decisions.

Best,

Chris

I love that last sentence. :D

Even I like the way Chris has put the last sentence in style !!!

Oh my if it’s like this on decision-about-decision-date day, you guys might need to add more servers for the real date. haha!

lololol yeah good point. it’s gonna DIE.

^^ … Agrrreeeddd !!!

…just imagine how chaotic it will be when actual decisions come out

Does anyone see the irony in this?? Doesn’t the “T” stand for Technology?? Just saying…

Good luck to all!

Actually the t stands for “pop tart.” The “pop” is silent.

Can you blame us? You guys over at MIT brought this upon yourselves, building up this hype over the “announcement for the announcement of EA decisions.”

It’s working now! Thanks Chris :)

hahhahahahahahahahha … Chris … that was reallly realllly hilarious from you …

Heyy doesnt anyone feel like at this moment every person associated with MIT in some or the other way is actually online ??

Sorry, my bad. I’ll tell my botnet to stop. :(

Actually, Chris, does the new admissions site cache the homepage/blogs? This is the first year with the redesigned site, right?

though, it looks like the decisions.mit.edu is on an entirely different server and still uses a legacy system, so hopefully that won’t be an issue?

I heard the U Mass website was handling several hundred thousand simultaneous connections. :)

…that doesn’t seem right. Several hundred thousand? That’s like, large-scale-newspaper-sized.

Chris, I’m sorry to say I contributed to this problem; I compulsively refreshed the page on my phone after every class today and I didn’t get the information until after school at math team practice. If I had bothered to download the CC app, maybe I would not have visited the MIT site so much…

Hey MITChris, I’d love to see a graph of the requests per second from 12:00 to 1:00 on Saturday. I think it would really fun to see that data.

Think its possible?

Well there are only 6100 ish EA applicants, so presumably that would be the max in that time period :-)

crazymomster, I assure you all 6100 of us will be pummeling the refresh button from 12:10 onwards.
