Storage for Fall

Does anyone know how safe it is to move our stuff into the dorm for fall? I am currently in Summer B and they told us we could store our personal things in our Fall dorm, eg Broward as long as we put it in the closet. Do you think we can put our printer and fridge etc or do you think maybe it's not that safe. It is so convenient to be able to move the heavy things in and maybe toiletries. I was just wondering how safe it was. Also any one know...Do you have to put in a HAWK request to raise the beds to the highest level or is it something we can do ourselves? Thanks guys for all the info you share on this site.

My son stored his things last year, for the week between Summer B and Fall semesters. We didn't leave his TV, printer, or laptop in the new dorm room....we took them home. It was a huge help being able to store his file cabinet, small chest of drawers, and office supplies for that week. We also left all his hangers, cleaning supplies, and the bulky foam mattress pad there. His file cabinet locked, so he locked up his desk lamp and a few other things. Everything was there when he came back the next week. And it was so easy to move him into his new room. Everything fit into one car, in one trip. Good luck to you, nug8r!

From what I have heard there are two types of beds, one where it is really easy to raise it, just move it up a couple of notches and the other were you have to unscrew and then move the bed. You dont have have to put in a hawk request, thats only for bunking the bed.

The stuff should be safe. The custodial staff don't have time to go through you things. They are busy sweep the floors in each room and clean the carpets. Even though housing says that you have to leave things in the closet, you can get away with putting it on the bed or on the desk/dresser because all they really care about is the floors in the rooms.

Oh and also, dont bother calling before the 31st. They dont put that in the email, idk why.

Thanks guys for your responses. I think it is a great convenience to be able to store non valuables for the week. I appreciate your opinions
