Stories about transferring after 1 year at Community College? HELP!!!!

<p>Hello all. My name is Will, and let me just start off by saying that I am extremely smart, but lacked the will to succeed in High School, for which I payed the price. I didn't have a high GPA, and I didn't get into many of the four year schools I applied to. But, I am here at Westchester Community College, and I am ready to give it my best. I know it will be hard, but I know I can do very well. Anyway, back to my question and story. I wrote a KICK A$$ essay when sending out my applications. You see, I have had to deal with a big personal problem since my Sophomore year in High School. An anxiety disorder. I wrote about that in my essay, I had it edited by about 3 english teachers and sent it along. I won't get into my personal story, but I want you to know where I am coming from; I've been through a lot.</p>

<p>So, I am here at WCC, and I want to switch out after one year. In fact I NEED to switch out after one year. I see WCC as my way into a 4 year school, but transferring as soon as I can.</p>

<p>So my question is, if I maintain a very high GPA, let's say above 3.5, do I have a good chance of transferring to the school I want to go to? Which is Marist College.</p>

<p>I don't want to be stuck here for two years. Now I am not saying it is a bad school and I hate the people because I don't think that at all. I just want to be in a dorm room on a great campus not far from my home. I know I have to work hard to achieve this but I can do it.</p>

<p>I have heard many things about transferring after one year, things ranging from "Of course you can" to "No, it is pretty much impossible''.</p>

<p>I am so sick of people telling me I can and cannot do something. So, what are my options? Can I switch out after one year?</p>

<p>Also, does anyone have any recommendations or comments? Feel free to post!!!!!</p>

<p>Depends on how much fixing up your HS stats you have to do. Colleges, and certainly a private like Marist, will consider your HS record until you complete 2 years.</p>

<p>You don’t get called up to the majors because of one hot stretch.</p>

<p>I’m transferring in a years time. I started this summer with a full courseload, and by the end of next summer i’ll have my associates. I’ve already sent in a letter of intent to the school i want to go to next fall (09). I’m not sure about transferring as a freshmen like you want. However i do have a couple of friends who’ve gotten into our state schools after only one regular freshmen year at cc. It’s certainly possible, so good luck.</p>

<p>I graduated from high school one year early and I attended cc for only one year and got into UC Irvine and UCL, and almost got into USC but I got a D in a pre-req so that didnt happen. It is possible. I was a 2.9 student in High School</p>
