Stories of getting into UCSD with average stats?

I really want to go there because I live in SD, but my average stats are what I think will not get me in. Does anybody have stories of just-average people getting in?

GPA:3.7
SAT:1800

My friend got in on average stats this past spring mainly because he was a first generation to go to college, but he was originally waitlisted there then got in after like the last week of april.

What about University of San Diego? Check it out! (just giving you a second option)

Still, 1800 isn’t bad, I’m sure people have gotten in UCSD with that score.

It’s not just your scores. It’s everything that is included like the personal statements, and what you did during school like clubs, activities, volunteer work, etc. Good luck! <333 If it helps, UCSD has a larger acceptance rate than my school, and I go to a CSU. -.- My scores sucked with 1630 and 3.5 GPA and I got into the CSU. I wouldn’t see why you wouldn’t get into UCSD. ^^ Good luck. :)

I got into ucsd with pretty average stats. only remarkable score was my math which was like 700+ or something. My GPA was around a 3.83(regular) and 4.3(university GPA). Taking AP classes matter alot, extra curriculars( I heard it doesn’t help too much this year),and your personal statements. You CANNOT have any D’s or F’s in your first or second semester of your senior year or you will not be eligible to get in even if you get accepted. (That means don’t screw up in AP Calc or something.)also your decision of your major will really decide things for whether u get in or not. Psychology for example might not help you get in at all because alot of competitive people are applying for that major unless you’re an extremely special case.

@BigBangVIP: Are you seriously suggesting that it’s harder to get into CSUSB than UCSD? UCSD’s averages acceptance stats are a 4.09 GPA and 1323 SAT. CSUSB is a 3.34 GPA and 904 SAT.

@OP: Right now your chances are pretty slim unless you have incredible extracurriculars and essays. You still have a chance to retake the SAT (or try the ACT), so there’s still a chance. Hopefully you’ve applied/will apply to some safeties/matches.
