stories of rescinded admissions

does anyone have stories of rescinded admissions specifically from ucsd.

Last July/August I was doing jury duty (fun times, btw /sarcasm). I came home on my break one day to eat lunch and I got the mail. Seeing a letter from UCSD, I opened it and read it instantly. It said my offer of admission was rescinded because I failed to have the proper amount of units (I’m a transfer student). I was in shock and actually just sat on my bed for a few moments before I read it again. I ended up reading it probably 5 or 6 times in a row. It gets a bit fuzzy after that, but I remember driving back to Van Nuys courthouse crying and as the trial was going on I was trying my hardest not to cry and trying to pay attention to the murder trial…it didn’t work so well.

One of my community colleges (I took classes at 3 in the LA CC District) didn’t send my transcripts on time (even though I paid extra to have them expedited) and UCSD didn’t include those units when they reviewed my file, so the rescinded my admission. I immediately wrote an appeal letter, which my mom faxed on our home fax that night (does ANYONE still have a home fax except us? lol). She took a copy of the letter to work the next day and sent it certified mail and regular mail. She also faxed it from her work fax and sent it as an attachment in an email directly to the admissions officer, Mae Brown (who she ended up being on a first name basis with lol) along with a letter of her own about “the kind of person Felicia is.”

We got an email back saying they would re-review my file (before the letters even arrived at UCSD) and in about a week or so I got another letter in the mail re-admitting me to the school…

I love my mom :)

Those were the worst few weeks of my life, though…

My friend’s best friend got a D her second semester of senior year in her physics class and was rescinded from UCSD. ):

my grades in ap physics is:
B, B, C-, B-(?)
for these 4 marking periods.
am i in trouble…b/c of the c-? or do they count the cumulative score?

also. the UC’s don’t count pluses and minuses right?

No, you’ll be fine. The C- is not a big deal at all.

If you get in trouble with the law over the summer, does UCSD automatically rescind your admission?

hey i have the same last name as u.

i don’t know about ucsd…but last year, my friend hosted a party with alcohol. someone tipped off the cops and my friend got arrested. He admission didn’t get rescinded…but i live in new jersey. i would think it’s a case-by-case basis.

i dropped guitar class, because i have enough elective/art credit. will i get rescinded for that?

^ if you dropped the class, and you registered it under your application, send in a letter explaining you dropped the class with reasoning, and you should be fine.

@ DeeVee if you’re a transfer you should make sure that you didnt fall under the minimum 60 units. if your a HS senior im not sure but i dont think it would make a difference… just call admissions office and let them know.
