Storrs Campus or the Regional Campus

What does it mean if I was waitlisted to the Storrs Campus, but admitted to one of UCONN's regional campuses? Does that mean my academics weren't good enough to be admitted to Storrs?

probably, although you might still get into storrs...it doesnt mater that much though because after 1-2 years at a regional campus youll go to storrs anyways...

storrs has gotten verrrrry competitive- many people that got in 5-10 years ago would be rejected these days. be patient on the waitlist though- most students in ct use it as a safety school and wont be attending, so there will be room for many waitlisted students. also, do you live in ct and are able to commute to the regional campus? because they dont offer any housing.

I live in CT, so I was pretty sure that I would get in and I also thought that I had the grades, but I got waitlisted. What surprised me even more was that the regional campuses are like commuinity colleges... Is that true?

yes, regional campuses are all commuter schools/community colleges.

does anyone know the stats on admission for uconn waterbury or torrington?

i would say somewhere around 80% of people get in

wut do u think the average gpa, class rank, and sat score r?

I bet the average gpa is about a 3.2, class rank in the top 35 %, and the sat in the high 1100's. I know that it is getting higher though. I believe 4 years down the line it will be in the high 1200s.

^^^is that your guess for storrs or regional?

Right about now its really close to 1200s for accepted, and the rest of the stats as stated above for Storrs. In four years I think it will be low 1300s they are pushing this school harder then you can imagine, they want to be a powerhouse, and no expense is being spared.

^^ agreed. 10 years ago anyone with above a 3.0gpa would get in; these days they are rejecting 3.5s left and right.

Oh i did not know it was getitng that competitive. I projected for the storrs campus. Are the courses any different at the regional campuses? I assume they are at the same level as storrs, to keep things accurate.

It seems that everything is getting tougher these days. I believe the standards are being raised to compete with colleges like bc, bu, umass, rutgers, and syracuse.

Courses are different at regional campuses, especially labs. You don't do experiments that are as intensive, or as intensive dissections, etc. Its worth it to apply to main campus and go there if you can

Yeah that is what I thought. I will be attending storrs next year, but I was still wondering of the difference.

so do u think someone could get into a regional campus with a gpa in the mid 2' s?

Most likely, maybe even the Storrs campus, its worth a try.
