Straight Med/Direct Med Programs?

The Rice/Baylor program is insane to get into. I've heard personally from one of the admissions people from Rice that if you get into Rice, the med school doesn't even really consider your grades anymore. At that point it's all down to your essay, interview, and medical experience.

A girl from our school 2 years was accepted. She was our sal, had a 2380 SAT, 2400 SATIIs, 500+ hours working in a cancer clinic, had research published in a medical journal, etc. Those are the kind of kids you're up against for Rice/Baylor, Northwestern HPME, and Brown PLME.

My cousin has a program like this at Ohio State. He says it’s difficult getting in, but once you’re in there, it’s a huge relief. He said that he studies on average 1-2 hours a night, unless there’s a test the next day. He also says that the regular premed students tell him how lucky he is every day that he doesn’t need to take an MCAT.
