Apologies in advance for coming across as self indulgent or pretentious; it's my first time writing a full post on this forum.

In this application cycle, I've applied HYPSM, Columbia+Upenn.
I figured I had a decent chance: IMO medalist, >2300 SAT, decent grades, not too shabby ECs.
It didn't work out. And I don't know why I'm just not good enough.
I've thought about a gap year, but I know I'm too old. I've thought about transfer, but I've heard that it's virtually impossible.
I better finish this quickly before I cry again.
CAn anyone offer any advice whatsoever?

Yeah as born to dance said, you don’t have any safeties or matches on that list.
You could go to community college and transfer. Maybe you won’t end up at an Ivy. Like you said they are hard to transfer into, but you could still go to a good school.

Why is transfer impossible? Sorry that you’re disappointed. Sounds like you had really bad college counseling. Not even someone with perfect SATs who discovered a planet should have only applied to that list.

To Born2dance’s point, you never apply to HYPSM, Columbia, Penn assuming that you get one so it was a pretty bad mistake if you didn’t have safeties. Reality hits hard, just got to accept what happened and explore all options.

Anyways, search around to find if any colleges are still accepting applicants. If nothing pops up consider taking a gap year or heading to a CC. With your stats you could probably get into a decent school your second time around applying, although I’m not exactly sure how applying after a gap year works.

look for schools with rolling decisions so you can still apply, like penn state
obviously still not ideal schools but it’s usually easier to transfer from universities than cc

Depends on the target school. Public schools may prefer CC transfer applicants. Private schools may be less friendly to CC transfer applicants, although USC appears to be an exception.

Some schools still have open admissions. Try one of them.

There are some solid schools on this list, including Lawrence, Ohio State, Purdue, Michigan State, Lake Forest, Loyola (CH or NO), and Minnesota.

Thanks all. Any recommendations on (american or otherwise) universities giving good aid to international students which are good for transfers to an ivy league?

Well, you probably would have gotten into Cornell to begin with, had you applied. If you keep up the good work in college and pull a great GPA, you’ll be a very competitive applicant.

Cornell would have been a safety. Should have applied there. It isn’t at the same level as the others on your list, but that’s the whole point. You can’t have everything.

I would guess based on the question asked in post #15 that the OP is an international and was looking at the schools with the best aid for internationals.

There is only so much financial aid to go around in the first place, and even less for international applicants. However, if you are willing to look at lower-ranking colleges and universities that have one or two big scholarships each year for an international student, there may be more options for you. Not now, but for next year. Run a search with the college matching search engine at CollegeBoard.org and look for places that offer your major and some scholarships for international students, then go through the websites one at a time until you find some that will work for you. Yes, you may have to investigate many, many colleges and universities, but that is how it is. b@r!um who posts in the International Student Forum has written that she researched 300 colleges and universities before finding the ones to apply to.
