Strange? 2008 PSAT Writing Scores

I just got my PSAT scores in and I got a total of 223. I have two questions.

My writing score was a 69 but I answered all the 39 questions and got 3 wrong. I checked several PSAT prep books and with that raw score (35) they said it would be around a 76. What is with this discrepency? Does any one else have a similar situation?

I live in Massachusetts. I know in the past the the cutoff for semifinalists was around 222 is there any guess what it would be this year?

Thanks

39- 3 - .75 penalty ~ 35
it's not 76 because -1 is like 4 pts off. those prep practice booklets are way off, -1 could be 80,lol in actual. no.

Thanks, I knew they seemed way off but even college board's 2005 scoring table says it should have been a 73. I know it is old but it couldn't have changed that much.

I got 3 wrong and got a 70 so you must have skipped one.

i got 3 wrong and i got 69.....i never skipped any

Conversion scores for every test are DIFFERENT, based on how difficult that test was.

Also, the difference between the 69/70 is the fact that the curves for the saturday and wednesday tests were DIFFERENT.

See a pattern here?

I got one wrong and I got 76.

I got 4 wrong and no ommisions...67 =(

I got one wrong and lost zero points and got a 77, which is weird because on CR, I got one wrong, lost zero points and got an 80.

^ It depends on other people's scores as well, CR was overall a harder section
