hhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaa. Have any of you been accepted to a college that's prestigious and rejected from a college that isn't as prestigious. Happened to me today, accepted to Binghamton but rejected from Stony Brook (Again). Please share your experiences with this phenomena.

Wow, that’s funny lol. Maybe they have different guidelines Nope, never had a lot of experiences with college acceptances/rejections. Got accepted into one college and I think I got a delayed response from another that basically said they were hesitant about considering me. Ended up going to the college that accepted me. To the college that hesitated, yea…middle finger salute to them hehe.

Lol. Yea thats basically what I did with Stony. I think it was because Bing wanted my midterm grades which were really good. Stony however thinks that a test I took 2 years ago (ACT) is more important compared to my current college record -_-. Oh well I got into a better school. But it just bothers me so much. I’m waiting on my last college (Geneseo), and they didn’t request my midterm report. Both Gen and Stony were just backup plans in case I didn’t get into Bing. My school next year is either going to be Penn State or Bing.

I got into UT-Austin but rejected from Texas A&M.

Radicalcar- that is just odd… although both are great schools

I got rejected from UNC-CH, but admitted into American.

I know CH is a prestigious school…but I still felt it was pretty odd.

I’ve gotten into UNCG, Western Carolina, and Appalachian State.

All 3 have higher admissions standards than Guilford College, which waitlisted me even though I was sure I was applying as a safety school.

I’ve also been rejected at Wake Forest, but that’s not actually surprising. I found it kind of a blessing actually because I applied out of family/peer pressure but I think I’d be unhappy going to college in the same town I live in.

A friend of mine got waitlisted at the University of Minnesota, but accepted at Carleton College

Last Year: Deferred from NC State (Instate), Rejected from UNC (Instate, Related to First Student–day named after him, dorm named after him), Rejected from American, Attending Emory.

I have a friend who was accepted as a transfer at Brown but rejected from all of the UC schools…

By best friend was rejected from northwestern and waitlisted at Drexel but got into Penn

One of my good friends (and my sister’s best friend) got accepted to Stanford RD but got rejected from UCLA. Her profile is pretty good but it’s not so good where you go, “Oh, I understand how she got into Stanford.” We were all pretty surprised actually, so IDK what went on there but it is what it is. One of the guys on my floor got accepted to Cornell but rejected from Berkeley and UCLA…funny world lol.

I got accepted to Harvard but was rejected from my local cc…=)

I got waitlisted at UCLA but got a full tuition scholarship to USC this year.
Go Trojans!

One of my close friends got into UCLA and Michigan but waitlisted at UVA… or is UVA more selective?

I think waitlist can sometimes mean that a college doesn’t think that you are that interested in attending there. I know a kid who got waitlisted at Uconn (in-state too) but accepted at Upenn. Uconn probably knew that he was using them as a safety, so they decided to waitlist him. If he was actually interested in attending, though, he could’ve just demonstrated interest in attending and they probably would’ve accepted him off the waitlist right away.

Rejected to unc-chapel hill but accepted to wake forest

This doesn’t surprise me. Few people realize it but the University of Minnesota is pretty competitive. The acceptance rate is in the low 40’s. I got into UT-Austin (in-state) but waitlisted at Minnesota before getting in. Carlton used to be the toughest school in MN but I bet in 5 years the U will surpass it.

Accepted Princeton but rejected Berkeley with a 4.8/2400.

I have a friend that got into UC-Berkeley but wait listed at TCU. Don’t know how that one happened…
