Strange Email.... But it definately confirms a date....

I just recieved the following email:

Hello from the Oxford College of Emory University Office of Enrollment Services! As Spring approaches, we are busy reviewing files and preparing to release admission decisions to Regular Decision applicants Saturday, March 28th at 8:00am EST. As part of that preparation, we have been conducting testing of our online decision notification system with a randomly selected group of applicants. It has come to our attention that our testing inadvertently created emory.edu email addresses for this group of test cases. This occurrence was brought to our attention by one of your fellow applicants who was confused over the meaning of the email address in relation to the admission decision. We want to clarify this was merely a result of random testing and does not in any way reflect an admission decision - either positive or negative. At this time, we are working to correct the problem, and it should be remedied shortly.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. If you have any questions or concerns about your status prior to that date, please feel free to contact our office at 800.723.8328 or 770.784.8328 (locally) or by email at oxadmission@emory.edu.

Is that date ONLY for oxford? Or also for emory you guys think? I was under the impression that they came out at the same time...

Huh... Thoughts?

I got the same email. I got all excited until I opened the email.
Well now at least we know the date. I am hoping that Oxford and Emory will both release decisions on the same date =/

somebody should let lavie chocolat know about this email…

I was under the same impression also… hopefully, they’re both released next Saturday.

The email only indicates that the date is for Oxford. Hopefully Emory college decisions are releases tmr (or at the very least before next saturday).

haha when i first opened the email, i just saw the words sat. and got really excited… and then after actually reading the email i realized it was next sat. got me kinda disappointed since i was hoping to see the decision tomoro…

yes, i read that email here on cc because we didn’t received one, and now i understand better why my D had an active email address for weeks… it’s gone now, they are fixing the problem and we all need to wait until the end of March… unfortunatly… it’s a long, long process and i’m very glad it’s almost over! we are all tired of waiting… the stress is killing me… i will not come back on cc after that for a while!! my son is 13… i have time for the next crazy senior year!! good luck to everybody, you were very helpfull!

I showed my family the email and they are like you are def accepted to Oxford lol
If people hadn’t complained I am sure they wouldn’t have removed the email addresses even if it has to do with the so called “random testing.”
But then again, my family is probably wrong so we are just gonna have to wait another week =(

Next week is going to go by so slowly.

I know =( my spring break ends this week. I don’t how I will be able concentrate on school for one whole week…the week will get even worse with all the rejection letters…

That’s an early spring break. I have mine in 2 more weeks… the week after I get decisions.

Oy vey.

In Texas everyone gets their spring break around this time. You are very lucky I must admit. You will not be wasting your whole spring break on CC waiting for rejection letters lol

No, I won’t spend my time waiting.

I’ll spend my spring break crying. Haha.

Joking. If I get into Emory, I’m visiting my friend the first few days of spring break to REALLY check it out (the tour can only offer so much). Hopefully I’ll fall so much in love with Emory that my impending waitlist from my top school won’t matter.

haha I am sure you won’t have a reason to cry. It will be me going to school with puffy eyes from all the crying lol
Don’t tell me you got waitlisted by WashU too??

No, I didn’t apply to WashU. It’s too midwest for me. =P Though, 3 of my friends got in. But then again, like 5 of them got waitlisted. I haven’t heard of anyone getting rejected. I only applied to Vandy, Emory, Wake, GW and FSU. Vandy is my #1 and Emory is my #2. So, essentially, next Saturday could be the best day of my life (if I get accepted to both), since apparently non URM at Emory get decisions the 28th and if I get accepted to Vandy, I should receive my admit packet Saturday (since they mail admits priority) [but if I got waitlisted, I’d receive the letter Monday since they only do standard mail for waitlist/rejects].

It’s unfortunate. Like, Emory is such a good school and I really like it! Really! But I’m so in love with Vanderbilt that even if I get accepted Emory I’ll be so happy, but I’ll be more devastated from the Vandy waitlist that I’d be sad in the end.

Sorry it was kind of dumb of me to assume WashU -_-
I am rooting for you!! Hope you get accepted into your dream school =]

I on the other hand am too afraid to determine my top choice lol but I have fallen in love with Emory recently. So I am hoping all goes well. A rejection letter from Duke won’t look so bad if Emory decides to take me Oo But I find out about Duke on the 26th and Emory on the 28th…so that’s two whole days of misery -- That is assuming Emory wants me; if they don’t then it’s life time of misery haha

See if you can miss school on the 27th or something. I’m sure your parents will understand.

I really hope you get into Emory. =] You will have a better shot this year, especially since the 10% decrease in apps. And if we both get rejected from Vandy/Duke, we can meet up together at Emory!

I’m looking forward to going to college next year and meeting CC people!

Thanks!! =] Hope you get into Emory as well!!

Yeah, it will be pretty cool to meet CC people.
The creepiest thing is the idea of admission people going through these boards and laughing at us while we miserably sit here >_>

I applied to Emory/Vandy/Duke also, but out of Vandy and Emory which is “easier” to get into? I really want to go to Emory

DEFINITELY Emory. Last year’s class had lower stats than Vandy’s, and Emory went down in applications this year.

I applied to both as well, except Vandy is my top choice. >_<
