I applied early to Gallatin October 30th, and have recieved 3 out of the 4 confirmation emails. However, today in the snail mail I got a strange booklet from NYU titled "New York University: Academic Expectations". The wording makes it sound as though I'm already in..."We expect you to become and independent and creative thinker with the versatility, blah blah blah.....We expect you to develop essential skills in leadership blah blah blah.....In short, we expect you to take advantage of what we have to offer." However, I know that it's not possible that I've been accepted into the school yet, seeing as they have not yet confirmed they even have my full application. But it seems strange that they would waste the money to send this to ALL early decision applicants....why would they tell people who aren't going to the school what the academic expectations are at the school?

They don't remove people from the mailing list.

And, knowing a school's academic expectations can make or break an applicant's decision to apply. For example, if a school expects its students to study 329874932743 hours a week, a lazy student might say... screw that.

I applied ED to Gallatin also and got the same booklet. Pretty much it doesn't mean we got in. I've received their brochure at least five times now.

Haha.. those mean nothing.
After I applied, I got lots of mails from Northwestern saying how wonderful their school is in addition to Parents and Student's Guide to Northwestern and their montly megazine thing....

On Apr 1, they flat out rejected me :)
(which I expected since I submitted my application on MLK Jr's Day... (note that NW's application deadline is Jan 1. )

I applied ED to CAS (they got my app oct 31...they had to sign for it too), and I had my registrar call into NYU to check on my transcript because they lost it, and they said my application's complete as of nov 6 (because they found it) and I'm being considered for ED. Yet I haven't gotten any confirmation whatsoever from NYU Admissions. No letter, no email. I understand that it takes a while for NYU to mail stuff to me considering I live across the country, but it's been 8 days already.

I got the Academic expectations brochure today...and still no email from NYU unless the school email system filtered it out...but UVa and UMich went through so what are the chances of them filtering NYU out but not UVa or UMich?

I called NYU Admissions and they said they have everything, and since they already talked to me they don't feel the need to email me or write me...?

OK...I'm a nervous wreck. I haven't gotten ANYTHING from the NYU admissions office, and I'm worried that somehow my file got lost or something and that I'm not being reviewed for ED. Is it common for NYU admissions to forget to write people or email people? I hope I get something today in the mail...I haven't checked the mail. If not I'm going to have to call in and see what's up.

I just checked my mail and I got nothing. I'm calling NYU tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm calling them the 21st if I don't get the 4th email by then. If you haven't gotten ANYTHING from them, you should really call them as soon as possible.

I think its funny that NYU doesn't mail applications because its a waste of paper, etc... but yet they won't remove you from their email list after you apply ED or whatever..
