Strategy and Specifics for Course Registration

So I really really want some specific courses, but some don't have a lot of spots open. I'll be up the moment course registration opens, but how exactly do I add and register for said classes? I saw something about adding courses to a shopping cart and then clicking the magic enrollment button, but should I do that for the two courses with little space first, and then go back and get the bigger classes once I've gotten a spot in the smaller ones?

Man, I hope I don't sound crazy. I just want some good classes. hahah

You’re not in until you actually confirm enrollment (not just add) in the courses, but you have to make sure the correct term is in before anything else. The system tends to move pretty slow during registration and you can’t afford to lose any precious time. A lot of the challenge comes from quickly searching for specific courses and then adding them.

How fast does the typical class actually fill up? How do we check how many spaces are available for that certain class?

It can get exceptionally frustrating, but some classes may appear full but may not actually be snapped up very quickly - they might just seem full because a lot of upperclassmen needed it for a requirement or whatever. If a popular class fills up, there’s little you can do to militate against that, but spots tend to open up during add/drop, especially in large classes.

What if you add and confirm enrollment on the fast-filling classes first, then you later add and confirm the bigger classes you assume won’t fill up too quickly? Can you do that?

You don’t have to enroll in all your classes at once. Putting off larger/restricted (permission code) classes for later is totally fine.
