Straw Hat Auditions

Does anyone know when my D might expect to hear if she has an audition date?

It takes a number of weeks to get acknowledgment that they have received the student's materials. And if you are invited to audition, it takes about two weeks after that. Best wishes!

I think my D sent her stuff in about 5 weeks ago and I don't think she has heard anything yet but I could be wrong. She sent her info in with a few friends from school. She does everything on her own now so I hear everything after the fact... like it's no big deal. Kinda nice but I am still getting use to it!

kimoki - I think 4-5 weeks is about how long it took my D to receive acknowledgment that they received her materials, so your D may have mail waiting for her if she is on break right now :).

kimoki, listen to MTgrlsmom. As I recall, it took about a month or a little more to get the first acknowledgement (they have the applicants include a self addressed, stamped, #10 envelope) and they mail them back a sheet saying that their materials have been received and they can use the Strawhats Web site, etc. etc. and that they will be receiving notification if they are accepted to audition in (I think it said) about two weeks' time after that. Hang in there. She should be hearing something really soon! :)

My daughter was accepted to audition at StrawHats. She is a strong actress and singer but really isn't a dancer but moves well, She also got sccepted to a wonderful program in LA for acting for TV and movies through her studio at NYU. This was audition based and is for 6 weeks. We don't know if she should still do Stawhats and see if she gets any offers or do this program and drop out of strawhats. I would love any advice. Or try to do both.

Why not wait and see what response she gets from Strawhats? Just the experience of going to a huge audition like that is valuable. And she may get a great offer, but she may get nothing at all -- you never know. At least then you'll know what your options are.

I agree with OnStage. She should audition for StrawHat and see where it takes her. What program did your D get accepted to in LA? Is it a coaching program? What Studio in NY recommended it? I work in the "Biz", and live in LA so I may be able to provide additional insight...but, of course, I'm not familiar with all of the programs.
