Am curious as to the number of admits to the various schools that applied for 9th grade vs. 10th etc. My feeling is that an admission to grades beyond the 9th grade is more difficult. Any comments here?

What were your results prepparentoo?.

N/A from ESD still waiting on A -- (not hopeful), staying with current day prep at the moment for 9th grade

it is more difficult applying after 9th grade, there are fewer positions available for these grades and many qualified students

That's what we figured, but then also thought that fewer students applied beyond the 9th grade -- so in essence the probability remained constant.

I actually think the possibility goes down. There are tons of kids who try the local high school for 9th and then realize they want out.

For your poll, my brother was accepted to SPS, Deerfield and Peddie as a 9th grader..

i dunno... i didn't apply for frosh year, but I applied to Andover and exeter for soph and both accepted

suze, where will your brother go and why? I assume he will choose between SPS and Deerfield. How will he make that choice?

Thanks Taehoon.... curious on stats... I'm guessing 4.0 gpa and 90+% SSAT? Fine if you prefer not to say, but my feeling is that is what the bar will be for a successful application to those schools for 10th grade.

SPS was a clear first choice. Nut case, double legacy at Andover, would not apply..

i have like a 3.5 gpa but a 99% SSAT+ lots of ecs. My interviews were freaking awesome too..

bigblue told me that it's easier to get into 10th grade at Andover vs. 9th because the pool is less competitive. Let's face it; for the most part, the most qualified applicants apply for ninth grade.

sniff, sniff cries
well i got in exeter too so sticks tongue at jonathan

I applied to 6 schools for Gr. 11, all of them top tier except for The Hill. Rejected by 4, waitlisted by Milton, Accept to hill.

I definetly think its wayyyy harder to apply for anything later than gr 10.

You're just wrong Jonathan. Have you noticed you tend to glom on to one person's statement that might benefit you? .

I don't know if 10th grade is easier than 9th grade, but I would expect that, just as xcyuen stated, anything after 10th grade must be the most difficult.

for 9th, there is a slightly lower acceptance rate with a slightly weaker* pool
for 10th, there is a slightly higher acceptance rate with a slightly stronger* pool cuz there is a higher spots to applicants ratio.

but overall there's probably an insignificant margin

note: I'm not saying that there's a big difference, note the word slightly

You know, suze, I'm really starting to lose respect for you very quickly. Lately you've just been throwing around insults; calling people naive based on one statement, saying I'm wrong when I've heard from several people that getting into tenth grade is easier than ninth at Andover. Yeah, I know you went to Andover, but you don't know everything.

I don't mean to be offensive or anything. I just think you stop treating us like we're stupid.

Why would the pool be stronger for tenth than ninth?

Agreed, Jonathan.
