During the bubbling process, I like to put dashes beside the questions (on the answer sheet) I'm not sure of so that I can go back and check them if I have time. When I received my score, I was shocked that my score was around 200 points lower than what I had predicted. I looked at the Blue Book and I found this line: "Do not make any stray marks on your answer sheet." So now I'm wondering, do stray marks sometimes mess up students' scores?

Also, what is included in the "full score report" going to be released on Feb 15? Will I be able to see what my answers were and see the actual answers so that I can confirm if the machine made mistakes?

It’s possible, but most scantrons are sophisticated enough to overlook tiny marks. If you made enormous dash marks off to the side, then this could have potentially affected your score. But it may have just been an error in your calculations. After all, it’s impossible to accurately “predict” an SAT score. The full score report released online will not show you the questions you got right or wrong; it will only tell you what kinds of questions you missed most (hard, medium, easy). I believe you can pay to have a detailed score report mailed to you, however.

Either way, I am sorry you are disappointed with your score.

Thanks for the reply. If I pay for that detailed score report, will I be able to see what answers I picked and what were the correct answers? Also, how long will it take to arrive?

If you pay for score report you will be able to check. Not all testing dates offer though.

As for stray marks, if you had a stray mark where you normally are supposed to bubble or where there are the dashed black lines, it could be a problem. If there is a stray mark where there is just white paper, then it will not cause an error (ususally).
