I want to know the merits of each college.
Top ranked colleges do not always mean that that college is the best suit for someone, right?

What is the strong points of following colleges: University of Washington, Berkeley, Cal tech, Renssellaer Polytech, Georgia tech, MIT, Carnegie mellon, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, and Stanford.

Here’s were you have to do your own homework. Since you know who you are and what appeals to you…you should grab some books or get on the net and check out each college. Forget about asking friends (and parents) what they think.

Think about things like:

Where is the college located? Big City/Little City, cold/hot, lots of nightlife, lots of recreation

Is the college big or little?

What are you interested in? Science/Math/Band…So then does the college have those departments?

What about living at a college (Do you like dorms? Parties? Peace?) Do you like the idea of living far from home?

So, for instance, let’s say you like the idea of being away from home (and old friends), and go to a small school near the ocean where it’s warm. And, you find out that several of “those” schools have great chem departments.

You get the idea.

If you have a career or college center at your high school…go see them.

BTW, Top Ranked Colleges don’t suit everyone…in fact, you can be downright miserable going to a college just for academics or rating (based on opinions). College is much more than four years of homework.
