Strength of theater department's scenic and lighting design-focused courses?

Does anyone here have experience or familiarity with courses focused on scenic and lighting design in Middlebury’s theater department? If so, might you be able to comment on how strong they are and whether they could prepare someone for theatrical scenography-oriented grad school or professional work.

I’m additionally interested in learning about how such courses compare with similar ones in Vassar’s drama department. I may apply EDII to Vassar or Middlebury, and this information could help me decide which school to choose.

I really appreciate anyone sharing whatever knowledge they have.

Colleges with strong theatre departments commonly offer a comprehensive production course that covers basic design and stage craft, with further courses in specialized areas, notably scene design, lighting design, sound design and scene painting. In comparing Middlebury with Vassar, you can look for courses with these emphases. As an opinion, if you like Middlebury overall, then I think it could be a good choice for your theatrical ambitions.
