I'm surprised I've never mentioned this on other threads, but how important is community service? I donated over 500 (515) hours of my time to teaching young children to read at a local non-profit daycare. I was not paid. Thx. Is this a big help for schools like Georgetown? My other Ecs are weak due to the amount of time I spent here.

I would like to think so. If we all look at what you did, that is pretty selfless, the fact that you put in that much time to help children out without any "material" gain for yourself will speak for itself to colleges. i volunteered for about a month at a dialysis clinic (with a lot of old people may i add) and i think my app to USC was given some more weight because of it. IMO volunteering for something just speaks for itself, more specially if, say, you have medical school plans (which i ironically dont) and you volunteer at a hospital which would show once again, that you're selfless, but also that you're wanting to learn about the profession first hand and you're gaining knowledge of the field for your own future. btw, those are a lot of hours, keep it up and good luck with your transfer plans.

thx, the teachers and children there were so nice. Also, my sister went there, but I'm not putting that anywhere near my app.
