Stressed about College

hi, im a sophomore in high school and im already panicking about college...

I want to go to University of Michigan or Maryland, but im really scared my grades wont be good enough. My freshman gpa was 83.3(i think thats a 3.0), which is pretty bad to me. I took all regular classes freshman year, and this year im taking 3 honors classes(bio, soc, english).

For the first quarter, I got an 88 in hsoc, an 80 in hbio, and a 61 in honors english. I switched into honors english in the middle of the quarter, so i was really left back in the class, but it would of been great if my awesome english teacher told me how i was doing..

Do you think colleges will overlook my awful english grade since its my first year taking honors classes? Im really stressed out about this..

any advice?

No, they won’t overlook it. However, if you stick with it and show an upward trend, they’ll see that you persevered and improved despite your shaky start.

They will see it, and might slightly overlook it if you show an upward trend. The more prestigious the college, the less likely they are to overlook it.
