I agree with 8bagels. I think you’re a strong candidate for many colleges, but all of your colleges have an acceptance rate in the 30s except villanova. You should try to balance your list and include more schools with a 40-60% acceptance rate, keep a few of your favorites from your current list, and add some schools you know you’ll get into (probably 70-80% or higher). I’m not sure which state you live in, but try to include as many schools as possible from that state in case you end up not being able to pay OOS tuition. Also, if you’re shooting for a medical career, going to a “great school” doesn’t matter as much as some people think because there is a constant high demand for physicians/NPs/nurses/etc. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be successful wherever you choose to go!
@annana thank you! I am considering apply to BA/MD programs but I know that it is quite competitive. I’ll definitely add more safetys and target to my list.
Don’t give up entirely on the Claremont colleges, they are lovely, good for both LA and sciences, and you might have a shot at Pitzer or Scripps. If you need FA and are contemplating med school, think twice about West Coast schools because FA always lowballs travel expenses and airfares can really add up. In fact with your grades and scores why not look at your state flagship university and its honor(s) program(s)? You will be a star (good for med school admissions) and have lots more resources for med school. Don’t be afraid of reaches even though your “hook” is not strong.
I think I know what school you go to, haha, the 1000+ members in Red Cross gave it away. But I believe that your school should be a feeder school for stony brook and apply to NYU too. Your chances at NYU aren’t great score wise, but it could be a possible feeder school. Schools on the west coast probably wouldn’t factor in the competitiveness of your school compared to the SUNY ones. So the ones you apply to on the west coast should be of a lower caliber. (Their requirements should be lower than some SUNY schools). Reach schools might be ones whose average SAT scores are around 2050. Best of luck!
Your scores are pretty good. Don’t expect to get into the reaches tho. Just be happy with where you go. I recently began college at UC Berkeley and honestly i hate this place lol. it’s not that awesome. Go to a college where you will be happy:)
