Stressed out student - chances for UC's.

SAT1: 1840 (sent), 1830 retake (scores not sent)
SAT2: Physics, Literature, Math 2 - All in 590 range.
ACT: 26, 26

GPA:
10-12 Weighted: 3.91, non weighted: 3.6
AP classes taken: 1 sophomore, 2 junior, currently in 5 for senior.

Extracurricular:
Clubs: Board member for Engineering Club.
Bottles for the bay, key club, octagon club.
Around 40-50 hours of community service.

Gave school 1st place in sprint race and 2nd place in endurance race after building a solar-powered boat from scratch in Engineering Club. I was the skipper, too.

I'm a senior, Korean-American, father passed away at age 5.

I'm looking to push for UC's, mostly UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI. Possibly USC and just joke for CalTech.

I just can't find the motivation to work on my rigorous schedule. My mindset is just "Ugh, I didn't do so well on the SATs. Why am I even trying with these classes when I won't make it in the schools I want? Sure I'll save some money but still.."

In my 9th-10th grade years, I moved 3 to three different schools, some schools didn't offer any honors so my GPA is a tad low on the weighted scale.

Right now my priority is raising my SAT1 score, I want to get at least a 2000 before I have to turn in my applications in November. But that still leaves my SAT2 scores crappy with no time to increase them. SDslakdhlaksjd.

Is there any advice/comments for my situation? My chances at those schools? Should I retake the SAT1 or the SAT2s since I think I only have the time for one test before applications?

bump bump !

Hmm Your quite a similar applicant to me.

UCLA- Reach
UCB-Reach
UCSD- Low Reach
UCI-Match
USC-Low Reach

you should look at UCSB, UCD, and some other california schools, check out my list.

thanks so much. anybody else?

use one of the remaining days to raise SAT1 and another to do the three subjects. for UC schools your senior year grades aren’t important, they just want 3.0W, except for UCLA and UCB which want 3.5W. Find out your UC GPA, that is another important factor in admissions.

oh god, if i knew they had set a bar of what they want for senior year, maybe i wouldn’t have overloaded my schedule like this.

Everything is a reach but…

Irvine/Davis/SB- Match

can someone explain “reach” and “low reach” etc for me? i’ve been interpreting “reach” basically as lower than 15-20% acceptance.

bump 10 chars

They do care what you take senior year.

These schools are very formulaic. This should give you what you need to know:
