Okay, I'm going control freak here but I didn't send in my mid term until last monday. I didn't even realize they were required until last weekend when I was looking at the Wake Forest website. My application said its all complete (and has been for the past three months), so I honestly thought that the mid term was optional (which I didn't want to send in due to my C in ap calc). There's no deadline for the midterm, but I sent it in SO LATE.
I didn't totally screw up anything right? I think I'm going to call the admissions office, but i would really appreciate some peace of mind.

I didn’t know about this either until I read your CC message. I think you will be fine, particularly if your stats are pretty good, you will be on their radar. This is obviously a common situation. When they mark “Complete”, folks think they are done; this is a fault of the Wake application process. Hang in there, it’s gonna be OK.

I’m not sure how you can place any blame on Wake Forest. As clear as day on their website under Admissions>Apply>Dates and Deadlines everything is spelled out, including PDFs for you/your GC to complete. It’s about 2/3rds down the page with a deadline of "As soon as available Senior year: Send “Midyear Report” (this has a PDF link). There is no specific date as they understand some schools start in August and are done with midterms before winter break, while others start after Labor Day and don’t have midterms until late January.

I am making no assumption as to the effect sending these late(r) may or may not have on your admissions chances. What I am saying is the information of what was expected and the dates is clearly stated on their website. This is not Wake’s fault in communicating to you what was needed.

I respectfully disagree with your statements blue iguana, but that’s ok, we don’t have to agree. When they make a checklist, it should include sending one’s mid-term grades–but it doesn’t . The checklist is there for a purpose and if it says “complete”, folks assume that they are complete, and have submitted everything. When one signs into their site and it tells one that they are complete, when they are NOT, that is a flaw in their admissions site design. Most schools give some electronic notification of completeness, and Wake should add this to the primary site where students are signing in, so that everyone knows they are on the same page. Or maybe, e-mail students and say “hey, not sure if you got the message, we need your mid term grades”–just like some do about transcripts back in fall.

Yes, I have now seen the other link with the pdf and such, but I don’t personally think that their site is designed well to ensure that one truly is complete. That’s my opinion.
Wake is a great school, but I have other acceptances from schools higher on my list, for various reasons, one being that I’m from the Piedmont region of NC and I am looking to branch out and explore ‘different lands’–so even if accepted, I will most likely not pursue Wake.

@annie, I strongly doubt that you are NOT the only one who didn’t catch this and you probably got your grades in right at the critical time. Be upbeat, you did well to catch this. Best of luck, please let us know how you do!

Okay, maybe I was too stressed earlier to make this clear. I’m not blaming wake. I was mistaken, because I turned in my application in october and never gave a second thought to whether it was truly complete or not. Careless of me, yes. But, I called and made sure that this won’t completely screw up my decision.

SD - I understand and respect where you’re coming from. We will agree to disagree. I do know that my S2s school does list the MY report on the missing items list. This causes a great deal of anxiety and confusion for EA candidates (this would be ED at WF) because they aren’t available prior to their decision date. There is no way to ‘toggle’ that off in the system. So, you’re darned if you do, and darned if you don’t.

The university has to assume at this point that you’re responsible enough to read the application instructions on their website and know when things are due. Frankly, relying on someone else to inform you is not something that’s going to happen in college so reading and understanding what’s expected and various due dates is important.

Best of luck at the school you choose.

Frankly, blueiguana, you are very condescending and rude. Obviously, I excel at school and am responsible - otherwise, I wouldn’t be applying to Wake Forest. I’m sure I’m not the only one who forgets to turn in a midyear report in a timely manner because my application says ‘complete’. I applied to eight other schools - schools that either wrote me a letter telling me a midyear report was due or didn’t require it.
I just wanted to get thoughts from other people. People who would be helpful instead of criticize me for doing something I was already cursing myself for being late on. Luckily, this won’t affect my application status.
I’m sorry, blueiguana, that you are one of the sad little people who obviously ■■■■■ the discussion boards for any chance to prove that your children are better than anyone else’s kids.

I know I was over stressing on the midyear reports - they weren’t even available until February. I looked at the website a few times when I was applying - in october and to check my application was done in november. I don’t think its completely lazy and irresponsible to let life get in the way of remembering the midyear report three months later!
Just had to get that off my chest.

Annie ,
I’m glad you were able to get that off your chest. This is a stressful time. My response was to SD. People can judge for themselves as to my reputability and motivation by reading my post history if they wish. I wish you the best of luck.

Best of luck to you Annie; I agree with your sentiments.
You are gonna be fine, Wake is a very personable school, as I said, I’m from the area–and have very close ties here (can’t go into details). Did you do the interview?
If your stats are good, don’t doubt yourself. You are on their radar and they are attentive to every applicant. It was smart of you to call the admissions office just to get things straight and identify yourself!! They treat every applicant individually, because they have that luxury of not being a huge school, but big enough to have that bigger school feel.

@everyone:

The best thing to do when applying to these schools is to create your own checklist/calendar of impending dates. When I applied to schools, I kept all of my records in one of those big pop-out folders and had a checklist for each one.

I think you’ll be fine with sending in those midyear reports later. I would call the admissions office to be sure. Good luck with the process - you should be hearing back soon Such an exciting time.

Also, @blueiguana is an extremely well respected member of the College Confidential boards, and is certainly not a ■■■■■ for giving you his/her opinion. Just throwing that out there.
