<p>So, unlike many of you on here i dont have an amazing gpa or sat or a boatload of ecs (unless eagle scout is considered a lot when I have dne it since like 5th grade starting from cub scouts, and i was an idiot and didn't put the crimininal justice academy i did one summer).
But I have always wanted to go to uci and i think my personal essays were really really good if you want i cant pm them to one of you if you're interested to see them.
I applied for the criminoligy major with an alt major in japanese language and literature
my stats were
3.75 UW
3.45 uc gpa (yea i took a lot of honors but 7 ap classes after senior year so far two 4's and a 5 eventhough i didnt get A's in them ironic isn't it? It stresses me out to think that this was a waste that i could have taken much less and had a much higher gpa)
SAT:1880 (660 readying, 600 math, 620 writing)
ap tests: Bio 4, US 4, Psych 5
I'm a puerto rican first generation (to be born in this country my mom did a trade school and my dad was in the marines 20 years and just finished his masters at a CC i think. so first gen univ. student)
we have low income but somehow got rejected from the waiver for applications i could only afford one so i sent it to uci
I am in the top 9% of the state
I am in a competitive highschool our api is like 9
last two years of highschool i played swim and waterpolo for the last
we hosted a foreign exchange student with us for the year last year.
I am learning Japanese at a CC part time (2nd semester now)
(ps im taking spanish 5 ap dont you guys hate how rediculous they make the listening sometimes?)
ありがとうございます。じゃあねえ</p>
<p>gpa is kind of low
your sat does make up for it a little
if your essays were indeed really good, then i say you got about a 45-50% shot</p>
<p>Sorry i meant 3.75 weighted.</p>
<p>First generation college student and hispanic origins. You got good scores on your APs so hopefully admissions might see that your classes might have been unusually more difficult. I’d say 70% chance.</p>
<p>Well, my school is pretty highly ranked but it was more of a this doesn’t interest me at all and its wasting my time with busywork that did it usually classes if im interested i dominate but these were boring.</p>
<p>@ OP- I hope you’re ready for college. Be prepared to take MANY classes that will bore you. Its called GenEd, and unlike high school, its either coming out of yours or your parents’ pockets. :)</p>
<p>The thing about that though, I want to take them but highschool is so ****ty you dont want to be there.</p>
<p>looks like im screwed i still havent gotten anything</p>
<p>Don’t worry about it too much! They are still sending out the letters. I have some friends that have higher stats haven’t gotten anything either</p>
<p>yea but i feel like my stats really suck</p>
<p>Still nothing today, i think ill just give up and expect to get declined… that would be better than checkinmg everyday for something that wont happen haha</p>
<p>I feel youuuu!!! I’m waiting for my acceptance letters too :(</p>
<p>I’m stressing out about it also. I want to get to UCSD, but if not UCI at least. All my friends had gotten accepted and I have similar stats. I get more discourage when I hear someone with lower stats than mine get in. But try not to worry, we all have from now to the end of March. If Apr il comes around and you still haven’t heard anything, then I guess that’s the time to panic a little. Anyways good luck to everyone who haven’t heard from UCI yet :)</p>
<p>At this point, there’s nothing you can really do but wait. The decision has probably already been made, just not released yet. UCI is still releasing acceptances, so don’t consider yourself hopeless!</p>
