Stressing out! Please help!

I’m currently a senior in high school and college is coming up soon. I didn’t do as well as I hoped to do in highschool. I currently have a 3.2 gpa and a 23 ACT. I really want to go to either Northern Illinois University, DePaul University or University of Illinois at Chicago. I’m not sure if my grades are up to par with these universities. I have some extracurriculars which are: Key club junior senior year and 40 hours of volunteering at one place. Do you think I can get in to any of these universities. I will be taking the September and October ACTs so how much should I raise my score?

Look up the common data set and it’ll tell you the average scores. If yours fall in the middle 50% range I’d say you’re in good shape. (:

In terms of your ACT score and from the College Set data, for Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois at Chicago, you seem to be in the middle/leaning towards bottom. For DePaul U, you’re in the lower 25%. I would raise your score about 2 points to be more solid for the first two schools I mentioned. For DePaul, maybe raise it 4 points to be more confident.

If you focus on sections you think you can improve on the most before Sept, you should be able to raise your score. Do some practice with a timer. I’m not sure how much difference can be seen between the Sept and Oct test though, unless you do a lot of work in that one month. Good luck.

In terms of GPA, where do you think I fall in the percentile rank?
