i am so amazingly stressed out…i know that all of yall know how it is but it seems that everyone that i am talking to is applying to barnard early and i am sooooo scared because this is something that i want so bad (and i realize that everyone that is applying early really wants it bad also but still)…in the college process it is so easy to feel like you are the only one going through it (until you find out that your best friends are your competition)…i dont understand why it has to be so competitive…honestly, i just want to know if they are going to accept me or not because i am freaking out right now and if they are not going to accept me i want to get my chances ready…i just cant deal with it…and i know that half of yall are right there with me…argh!!!

it sucks to find a school that is a perfect fit and have such a small chance of getting in…

on a better note though…i got my act score today and i brought it up ONE point…yay i guess…32…not bad!!!..okay well i wish all of those reading this that are applying anywhere the best of luck and i just wanted to tell you that I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!

Hey, bamagal. I completely understand! I would not stress too much over having several others from your area applying to Barnard....they probably are looking to increase their representation in the Southeast. Just imagine how you would feel if you were one of the many, many young ladies from the NY, NJ, CT area who routinely apply!

Just curious: which of all of your many extra-curriculars did you focus upon in your application? Again, your stats look fine for Barnard but, as Calmom said, it is increasingly a "reach" school for anyone who applies, so do you have other schools in mind that you can "fall in love with" just in case?

I truly wish you the very best and look forward to having another transplanted southerner there with my d!

Focus on yourself and not on others. And, even though you are applying early, please spend time looking into other colleges as well.

Barnard is wonderful. It is NOT perfect. In fact one of the first things that happened to my d. at Barnard was that she was assigned to a FY English class and it turned out that there was a big personality conflict with the prof -- my d. knew the first day of class that she would have problems. Fortunately, my d. went to her advisor right away and she was able to change to a different section - but if things hadn't worked out, she would have had to deal with that situation for the full semester.

These are problems that a student can run into at any college. So there is no sense worrying about it -- but it also makes no sense to rest all your hopes on one "dream" school either -- because it just doesn't exist.
