Strict??

Today my friend told me that he heard that Pepperdine was really strict. He said there were annoying curfews, stupid rules, and even a dress code!! So if any of you have been, is it really this strict?

haha, your friend is a liar. The only kind of curfew at Pepperdine, is that you can't be in the dorm of an opposite sex from like 2-7 am, or something like that. Also, it is a "dry campus".

Actually, I visited Pepperdine and on our tour, the tour-guide said that almost the whole campus closes down at 10pm (all buildings close...including the library!)...and members of the opposite sex are not allowed in dorms after 1am (not 2)...and that includes for study purposes in the general living space! So yeah, it's definitely NOT the MOST easy-going campus.

Here are the Payson Library hours (per the Pepperdine website).

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 am-2:00 am
Friday: 7:30 am-9:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am-6:00 pm
Sunday: Noon-12:00 am

You can be in dorms until 2 , in the lobby;but only in rooms until 1PM. There are definitely more rules then most campuses but my D still loved everything and felt that students there were extremely friendly, helpful, warm and just genuinely nice folks. They seemed very happy there and everyone did community service. She would prefer co-ed dorms having grown up with a brother and having tons of male friends but in the general scheme of things it is minor.

I know this is random, but all of a sudden I remembered that during my visit this summer, I don't remember seeing room for televisions in the actual dorm rooms (I remember them in the lobby of the suite, however). Did I just miss this, or can we really not have televisions in our own rooms?

My brother and sister both go to Pepperdine, and they both have tv's. I think it's funny that so many people have the wrong idea about Pepp. It's not that strict at all...no curfews, no dress code, etc. Yes, the dorms are not co-ed, but is that really a bad thing? And convocation once a week is not chapel. They have different speakers from all walks of life some of which may be "religious", but many are people are in the business world, politics, or business that have something motivational to share with the students. Pepperdine is also not an easy school to get into. My cousin was just waitlisted with 4.3 w. gpa, 1200 sat, and tons and tons of ec's and awards. People think because it's a Christian school it must be easy to get into. Last year their acceptance rate was 22%!
