My essay is currently 30 words over. I dont think its an issue. Do you? What about unis? Do they count the words or open the essay in word and check the word count? I doubt they do, but just wondering how seriously they take the wordd limit

Sometimes the online system will literally cut you off at a certain word count. Your Common App essay can’t be over 650 words. Other than that, it’s probably not an issue.

The common ap will definitely cut you off at 650 words. So if your essay is longer, you really have to cut it down, since I am sure you don’t think the last 30 words are the least important!

It’s a HUGE issue this year, as your essay will be cut off at the 651st word.
So it is a big issue!

Yes! You must edit your essay down to under 650 words or else it will get cut off in mid-sentence.
