Hi ^^ I just came home and very excitedly found that I was accepted into the STRIDE program. I was wondering if someone can tell me if this is in ADDITION to any money offered by the need-based financial aid or if it will supplement part of what I would have received. Thank you.
@seniors.yikes.us, I think it replaces need-based aid–it’s not in addition to it. If your need exceeds the cost of attendance then you’ll get need-based aid on top of the Stride. At least that’s how it was explained to me. Which state are you in?
@smcirish NY
Congrats on your Stride!
We are waiting to hear in Pennsylvania. Nothing in the mail today. We’re in the same boat trying to
Figure out Holyoke or Smith. @smcirish would love to compare notes with you…,
We are waiting in Colorado… Holyoke was good to us on the FA but I think D would rather see Smith come through with something at least close.
My daughter got her STRIDE notification in the mail today. It put a big smile on her face; she was genuinely surprised.
We live in Tennessee and she was an early write. Good luck to everyone waiting.
My D got her STRIDE letter today in PA. It’s dated 3/17. Just the notification no other FA info.
My D got a Zollman/Stride letter today (also dated March 17th). She’s thrilled! We live in the Chicago area and she was also an early write.
Oh geez I don’t want to be the one who checks the mail today. Maybe husband will do it. D is at rehearsal (where she lives, most of the time).
I also received admission to STRIDE yesterday! I was an early write from Rhode Island. I was also curious about how financial aid might be paired with this since I know my need exceeds the scholarship.
@flutist189 I believe whatever is left of your need AFTER the scholarship would likely come in grants and/or loans.
The amount of aid awarded above the merit award will be grants.
My D just got her STRIDE info today - just when I’d figured she wasn’t getting one! Guess hers got snarled up in the mail. She’s pretty thrilled and is looking forward to the Open Campus event.
Has anyone in California received Stride notification? We have not, but D has received substantial merit aid offers at Mount Holyoke and Bryn Mawr, so we’re hoping to hear about something from Smith, since it’s probably her top choice right now.
We don’t really qualify for financial aid, but Smith at full price versus MHC with a $20K/yr merit scholarship is a big difference.
I’m in the same boat as you right now. I really like Smith, but it would be over $100,000 more than Bryn Mawr or Mount Holyoke
Same boat! Holyoke has been extremely generous! Daughter received an early write from Smith, but there’s been no scholarship notification from Smith. Lost in the mail? Not coming?
Here too! I hope Smith comes up with something good, or D may end up on the other side of the river! Not that Mt. Holyoke would be a bad thing… in fact, it’s great … but she’s been wearing that Smith t-shirt and she likes it quite a bit.
I got an early write and also got STRIDE. I found out on the 20th, so if you live far away from smith, it might come next week
if your daughter got an early admission it is almost certain she got STRIDE because you live far away it might come later. Wish her luck!
