STRIDE Scholars Program

Congratulations. Let’s hope that our mail service is just slow.

I wish Smith could just put all the information online so that everyone can check and be done with it. Or just send out an email like many other schools are doing these days. Snail mail is so last century.

I got a stride scholarship! So happy!

D got hers in the mail yesterday! - we’re in PA. A friend with a D at Smith says the administration is still pretty paper-based.

^^ That seems a long time for the letter to travel from Northampton MA to PA.

^ I’m certainly not complaining…Haven’t received anything in CA yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I didn’t get a STRIDE but I got excellent grants… Can I still do research in my first year tho?

Yes, you can do research your first year. The ease of doing so varies by department. During orientation there’s a session where you can talk to professors and department heads from every major (held outside on one of the lawns if the weather is nice). That would be a good time to start talking to people about doing research. They may have a similar session during revisit day; if you’re going, you could even start then.
