Is anyone here going to possibly play a string instrument at dartmouth next year?

My son will be playing banjo.

Not the answer you were expecting, I'm sure.

The piano is technically stringed...lol. I don't know if I'll be at dartmouth though!

Well, if I end up getting into Dartmouth, then I'll be playing the viola.

If I get accepted, I wil definitely be playing violin in the dartmouth symphony.

Could the fact that you would be willing to play in the Dartmouth symphony help you when it comes to admissions?

Surely, but you have to be good enough, compared to others who play your instrument and are also applying, for them to really want you...which they can tell from your CD. Otherwise, it just counts as another extracurricular that you put a lot of time and effort into. It's definitely beneficial, but it won't get you in by itself.
