do you guys think one could do striped blazer, open-neck shirt, jeans, and dress shoes for interview? it’s at one of those independent coffee shop places, and the interviewer is an assistant professor of environmental studies, Brown '90

and the jeans are dark, euro-ish ones. (i think it was Mexx or something other euro thing.)

if you feel comfortable wearing that, it's fine. The type of venue also matters - if it's a Starbucks or equivalent, you may want to be more casual, but always have ironed, clean and non-ripped clothes, :) closed shoes, and a shirt with sleeves. If it was a faculty club setting, your choice would be perfect.

But most important - within those parameters, wear something you feel at ease and self-confident in.

You don't want to be dressed nicer than your interviewer. Consider nixing the blazer and dress shoes. Jeans and open-necked shirt are OK.

dress as anything that's respectable...it's not a big deal.

that sounds cool

wear jeans, an open neck (collared?) shirt, a blazer, and dress shoes ANYWHERE and i will personally come and kill you, make you dress better, then kill you again.

uh oh. so why the rage, claysoul?

in any case, i sort of realised that jeans with blazer and dress shoes did look a bit vulgar, so i figured that i would wear cords instead

Please, just wear what you're comfortable in! I personally would wear jeans (not torn though!) and a smart polo/casual shirt...

(this coming from a girl, though :))

jeans are hotter
wear jeans
i wore jeans to my interview... skinny jeans, but im a girl
i hope ur jeans aren't skinny lol

they are sort of in-between, really.not like punk rocker or emo skinny. but like just very straight-ish. sort of designer skinny ish excepti i dont think the price qualified it for designer haha.

thats good.
guys look good in straight jeans.
as long as they look nice, they're probably okay
i think you should just wear a nice dress shirt on top? where is your interview btw

quasi-chic ish sort of indie cafe.

and dietcoke.....local weather too cold for just a shirt.

jeans and dress shirts with blazers are just a huge pet peave of mine. :)

I think I can understand your peeve, claysoul. There are some guys I know who wear their rock & republic jeans with really sassy blazers. Looks absolutely pretentious. Although in my case my blazer is a lot more trad. think Brooks Brothers. Heck I figured my brown or blue pants look a lot better with the blazer anyways.

I think it sounds perfect (:

i love rock and republic!!!!!
lol
seriuosly, im sure von_herrs ur a very attractice person
so you should be able to pull anything off

I like rock and republic too. What about Sevens and Sixties? and that new European thing, G-Star?
