Striving for NYU

Hello all. I am a junior (2009-2010) and I have seriously been looking at NYU/ Tisch School. I am extremely interested in their film program. I am applying to their high school summer program for 2010. If I get in, and complete the program I will apply to attend college there. I have a 3.9 GPA. I have a pretty bleh ACT, 24. I plan on doing practice tests to improve my score. I’m in a wide range of extracurricular activities. I am in an Independent Study Class with Computer Applications. It is a one-on-one class. I create short films, and edit them with Final Cut Pro. I am in charge of stage production in my school’s theatre (lights and sound booth). I am in the National Honor Society, and there are several other things that I could mention. Honestly, do I even remotely have a shot?

Absolutely. I think it is good that you are aiming for the precollege program. Try to improve your score. You just don’t know too you apply.

Anyone applying to Cap 21 please message me. :)

I basically made the same decision as you Alana, and I’m asking my teachers for reccs for the program tomorrow and im pretty nervous about it. Only thing is im a sophomore so my chance are alot more slim but I’ve been really working on my essay and resume. I just hope my teachers actually put some heart into their reccs. Wish you all the best :)

You willnot get in with a 24 on the ACT. NYU is very strict on their mission for equal exposure to both your intended artistic major and liberal arts. I suggest studying and retaking that. It also helps to have a few AP exams. They like comm service. Multiple interests other than your major and people with personality.

I recently auditioned for the new Bway studio and stayed in Gramercy with a few MT major friends. And this is what they told me and all had in common.

I am definitely going to retake the ACT. I not I am not getting in with a 24. I’m mainly looking at the High School Summer Program, which does not look at your ACT score. I plan to raise my score before applying to ANY colleges. I have plenty of other interests to write down, I only wrote the ones that were relevant to film.

And Azizi2012 I hope you get in. Yea, I have the Director Of Technology and my English teacher doing my recommendations. (: Wish you the best as well.
